Stari Grad, Budva, Crna Gora
The Old Town of Budva existed in antiquity in the fifth century BC when the first mentions of this Illyrian town - Butho. People started calling it"Stari Grad" in the Middle Ages. Most of the architecture is in the Venetian style of Uuska Street, doors, windows, and balconies. The Old Town was severely damaged in the devastating earthquake. The rampart cracked, some houses were completely demolished. It took 8 years to regain its original appearance. There are 4 churches in it: the church of St. John from the 7th century, the Church of the Mother of God from 804, the church of the Holy Trinity from 1804 and the church of Saint Sava the Consecrated. The city also has the Citadel, which was once a gathering place for locals, today it houses a library and a restaurant. In the Old Town there are numerous exclusive restaurants, cafes and boutiques and in the vicinity there are beaches Pizana and Richard's Head.
