Ulcinj is a coastal town in the far southeast of Montenegro and the southern part of the Adriatic coast. The southern part of the city has a 30 km coastline, in the eastern part of the city is the river Bojana, and above the city rises the magnificent mountain Rumija. The first records of the origin of the city date back to the 5th century BC when it was inhabited by the Illyrians. It was the target of many conquerors, and huge ramparts that surround the old city serve as proof of that. The city is known for its beaches with fine, clean, and warm sand. The most famous ones are Great Beach, Small Beach, Valdanos, and Ada Bojana (famous nudist beach). There is also a well-known women's beach that helps treat infertility in women and is located between the hotels Galeb and Albatros. Ulcinj has 20 km of beaches, of which 15 km are of fine sand. With many sunny days during the year, warm transparent water, mild wind Maestral which cools the hot Ulcinj nights every day - the bathing season lasts 6 months (from May to October). It is also known for its olive groves. There are 88,000 olive trees in Ulcinj. On the shores of the river Bojana, which in a unique way connects Skadar Lake with the sea, there are several huts called sojenica, once made for the needs of nudists. Numerous fishermen's houses and restaurants with local specialties of Mediterranean cuisine are located along the coast. Numerous cafes, discos, pizzerias, and restaurants offer a diverse entertainment life, and often the city hosts many cultural and musical events that are organized mainly in the summer months on beautiful beaches. Ulcinj is connected by excellent highways with other coastal cities of Montenegro and the neighboring state of Albania on the other side.
