Bijelo Polje is a town in the northeast of Montenegro. The city is located in the valley through which the river Lim flows and is surrounded by high mountains. It was named after the field with white flowers that existed on the site of today's city. According to archaeological research, this area was inhabited as early as the Neolithic (5000 BC). The number of inhabitants in the municipality of Bijelo Polje is about 17,000. Apart from the Illyrian-Roman sites, the Đalovića cave in Đalovića gorge is a tourist attraction known as one of the most beautiful caves in the world. To date, 17 km of this cave have been explored and speleologists claim that the cave extends another 200 km in depth.
