Konik is a settlement founded in the middle of the 20th century, located on the banks of the river Ribnica. It is located on Ćemovsko polje on the southeast side of Podgorica. The multiethnic composition of the population counts 19 nationalities, among which the most numerous are Montenegrins, Serbs, Muslims, Albanians, Roma, Bosniaks, and several other minorities. In the neighborhood, there is a Roman Catholic cathedral, cinema, and a cultural center, two schools, a kindergarten, a green market. There are about 35000 inhabitants here, and together with the neighboring settlements of Stari Aerodrom and Drač it makes up half of the total population of Podgorica. The architecture of Konik is represented mainly by family houses, but in recent years an increasing number of modern residential and business buildings have been built. In the neighboring area, there are bars with a full range of facilities for trade, services, and catering activities. Apartments in new and old buildings are available at very affordable prices compared to other districts of Podgorica.
